Welcome to the seventh edition of my Coil income reports, which I publish monthly.
Having Coil integrated into this WordPress website enables me to receive tiny micropayments streamed to me in real time as visitors are reading my articles — provided they have an active Coil subscription.
While it is also possible to receive those payments in US dollars and many other fiat and crypto currencies, I am receiving mine in XRP, which is a cryptocurrency used for different use cases.
This Month’s XRP Balance
My XRP balance for July 2020 that I received through Coil
Last month I received a total of 22.036495 XRP, which corresponds to an increase of +315 % compared to the previous month. With the exchange rate of XRP/EUR on the last day of the month that was worth roughly 4,76 €. That corresponds to an increase of +471 % compared to the previous month.
This Month’s Traffic Analytics
Chart of my blog traffic analytics for July 2020
Let’s measure it against my blog traffic analytics from last month.
I had 722 visitors on my blog in the past month. That’s an increase of +59 % compared to the previous month. Divided by the amount I earned through Coil makes 0,007 € that I earned per visitor.
This balance also includes the payments that I receive from Coil subscribers watching the content that I share directly on the Coil blogging platform and my videos on Cinnamon or YouTube.
Therefore, it’s not super accurate, but sufficient for me at this point.
Another Coil Boost
Once more, I’m very happy to have received another payout from the well-known Coil boost program.
On July 16, I received an extra 1201.946766 XRP, which was worth $ 237.98 at that moment. The boost program keeps being an amazing effort by Coil for new people to give web monetization a try.
The user base and ecosystem are still very small, so it makes sense to provide some incentive for early adopters. I believe the experience to receive real-time micropayments from the first subscribed reader then helps to make people understand why this is a technology worth experimenting with.
After all, the whole concept is not that easy to grasp by someone not familiar with any of it. It’s simply not something people would imagine, being used to how content on the internet is monetized today.
It’s always great to see new people come in and their progress from being curious to becoming enthusiastic.
You can check out all my monthly Coil income reports, which I create to track the development and perceived adoption of Coil.
If you have any questions, feel free to drop them in the comments below this article.
If you are curious to find out how to integrate Coil into your own WordPress website or blog, check out my step-by-step guide on how to do it.
And those $2400 you get from rippol to keep posting on coil LOL
Hi Patrick!
The boost payout is coming from Coil, not Ripple, and is an incentive for creators to experiment with Web Monetization. Since the ecosystem is small, it’s a great way to get attention to the platform. 🙂
Sensational work Benny, exciting for you to see those numbers go up!
I have built a Twitter bot to track how many websites are supporting web monetization already — and we recently passed the 1000 website milestone! You can check it out here: https://twitter.com/WebMotized
It’s worth a try and you can even integrate it into your website and receive payments without having to subscribe yourself. ?
Great stuff, Benny. I really do appreciate the transparency of your reports. Very professional and business-like! Good job!
Thanks John!
I just like the thought of being able to look back on a whole lot of reports in a few months and years time to see how things have developed. ?
